Time zone should now be set to eastern time. It's a patch fix, so I don't know if it'll adjust for daylight saving when it kicks in. The patch can be manually modified if that's desired. Click for Full Text!

George W Bushâs $300m library in danger of becoming white elephant His critics see it as a monument to a failed presidency that may not even hold all his key documents Sarah Baxter As President George W Bush eyes his legacy, his presidential library at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, threatens to be a white elephant. Bush has bought a $3m (£2.05m) house in a Republican enclave 10 minutes away from his proposed library and hopes to play an active role in the policy institute that will be established there. With his approval ratings at a record low of 20%, according to a CBS poll, he is keenly interested in shaping the verdict of history. ...

Abuses by King John caused a revolt by nobles who compelled him to execute this recognition of rights for both noblemen and ordinary Englishmen. It established the principle that no one, including the king or a lawmaker, is above the law. The Magna Carta (The Great Charter) Preamble: John, by the grace of God, king of England, lord of Ireland, duke of Normandy and Aquitaine, and count of Anjou, to the archbishop, bishops, abbots, earls, barons, justiciaries, foresters, sheriffs, stewards, servants, and to all his bailiffs and liege subjects, greetings. Know that, having regard to God and for the salvation of our soul, and those of all our ancestors and heirs, and unto the honor of God and ...

St. Lawrence Institutefor the Advancement of Learning THE AREOPAGITICA John Milton In 1644 the English poet and man of letters, John Milton, published the Areopagitica as an appeal to Parliament to rescind their Licensing Order of June 16th, 1643. This order was designed to bring publishing under government control by creating a number of official censors to whom authors would submit their work for approval prior to having it published. Milton's argument, in brief, was that precensorship of authors was little more than an excuse for state control of thought. Recognizing that some means of accountability was necessary to ensure that libellous or other illegal works were kept under ...

Madison's NotesIntroduction by Jon Roland James Madison is usually credited with being the principal author of the U.S. Constitution at the 1787 Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, but, while he was an active participant in the debates and in the drafting of the document, he also managed to take the most complete set of notes on the debates in that convention, capturing the essence, if not the exact words, of the participants, and giving us a definitive insight into the intent of the Framers. His were not the only notes taken, and several of the other participants wrote of their recollections of the Convention, including the official recording secretary, William Jackson, but ...

Bush's $1 Trillion War on Terrorism: Even Costlier Than ExpectedBy Mark Thompson / Washington Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 The news that President Bush's war on terrorism soon will have cost the U.S. taxpayers $1 trillion â and counting â is unlikely to spread much Christmas cheer in these tough economic times. A trio of recent reports â none by the Bush Administration â suggests that sometime early in the Obama presidency, spending on the wars started since 9/11 will pass the trillion-dollar mark. Even after adjusting for inflation, that's four times more than America spent fighting World War I, and more ...
