Copenhagen climate summit in disarray after 'Danish text' leak [Full Thread] Post Date: 2009-12-08 19:47:37 by christine

The UN Copenhagen climate talks are in disarray today after developing countries reacted furiously to leaked documents that show world leaders will next week be asked to sign an agreement that hands more power to rich countries and sidelines the UN's role in all future climate change negotiations. The document is also being interpreted by developing countries as setting unequal limits on per capita carbon emissions for developed and developing countries in 2050; meaning that people in rich countries would be permitted to emit nearly twice as much under the proposals. The so-called Danish text, a secret draft agreement worked on by a group of individuals known as "the circle of ...
Gadget Lab Hardware News and Reviews Apple Expels 1,000 Apps From Store After Developer Scam Post Date: 2009-12-08 19:39:44 by RickyJ

Apple has sent a clear message to any developers who try to game its iTunes App Store. Software developer Molinker has been kicked out, along with more than 1,000 of its iPhone applications. The Chinese developer had, according to some estimates, 1,000-plus applications in the store, most of which were copycat knockoffs of existing applications. When the friend of writers at the iPhoneography photography blog saw these rather poor applications consistently scoring 5-star reviews, they got suspicious. Some investigation showed that Molinkerâs applications were getting many top ratings and almost nothing in the 2-to-4-star range. In fact, the only other ratings were often ...

December 7, 2009âPrivate commercial spaceflight inched closer to reality Monday as Virgin Galactic took the wraps off SpaceShipTwo, the VSS Enterprise, during a special unveiling event at the Mojave Air and Spaceport in California. More than 900 guests and media from around the world were on hand as Virgin Galactic Founder Sir Richard Branson and Scaled Composites Founder Burt Rutan pulled the wraps off the sleek space liner that will be the first vehicle to offer commercial suborbital space flights to the paying public. âIt could not have gone better,â said EAA President/Chairman Tom Poberezny, who was in attendance. ...
A Critical Decision Post Date: 2009-12-08 18:57:52 by X-15

Members of all branches of the United States Military will soon be facing a most critical decision. The European Union Times is reporting here that Obama is using the deployment of additional troops to Afghanistan to cover for the movement of some 200,000 troops, presently on duty in countries other than Iraq and Afghanistan, to USNORTHCOM to prepare for the "expected outbreak of Civil War within the United States before the end of winter." It would appear those who call themselves "public servants" believe the people they supposedly serve have become dissatisfied with their job performance and will resort to some form of civil disobedience, which will necessitate ...

n New Jersey, governor-elect Christie opposes (and rightfully so), the state going deeper in debt but that is not stopping the current administration of Jon Corzine. Please consider N.J. to Borrow $200 Million Amid Incoming Governorâs Opposition. New Jersey, the third-most indebted U.S. state, will sell more than $200 million in bonds today to finance voter-approved capital projects a week after Governor- elect Christopher Christie said he opposed borrowing more money. The state will issue $209.1 million of bonds, including $205 million of tax-exempt securities, the largest such competitively bid offering in the market today, according to Bloomberg data. Christie, a ...
Grayson Rips Bernanke Over Latest AIG Bailout, Insinuates Attempted IRS Fraud In Grossly Illegal Deal Post Date: 2009-12-08 18:36:37 by Horse

One day, Vince McMahon will pay handsomley to get Ben Bernanke and Alan Grayson in the squared circle. Until that day, we should just hope and dream. In the meantime, we have litters and public appearances by the Florida Congressman, who takes the latest AIG "taxpayer payback" opportunity to remind everyone of just how deeply he loves the "we create money out of thin air" institution that is the Federal Reserve. I write with concern about two announced deals that are lauded by AIG CEO Robert Benmosche as AIG's plan to 'pay back the taxpayer'. In reading through the deal, it looks to me like the Federal Reserve is simply engaged in yet another disguised ...
Elk Hunters Say Ft. Hood Soldier's Dream Will Come True Post Date: 2009-12-08 18:35:23 by X-15

MISSOULA, Mont.-U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Patrick Zeigler, shot four times at Fort Hood, Texas on November 5, dreams of recovering well enough to go elk hunting someday. That wish has become a welcome command for a battalion of hunters eager to help. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, an organization made up primarily of hunters focused on conserving habitat for elk and other wildlife, has adopted Zeigler as one of its own. Members have vowed to make the soldier's dream come true-as well as support him through the grueling rehab and surgeries that stand between him and his first adventure in elk country. "When I told Patrick about the offer to go elk hunting, it was one of the ...
Collapse In Tax Withholdings Refutes Improvements In Either Unemployment Or Corporate Profitability Post Date: 2009-12-08 18:35:09 by Horse

Even as the BLS and the administration are trying to cover up the real state of unemployment affairs using assorted semantic gimmicks of just what it means to be unemployed, and as companies provide adjusted EPS numbers, while actual earnings continue to collapse, the true barometer of spending, provided by the Financial Management Service, tax withholdings (net of refunds), continues to paint the truest picture of just what is really happening with both America's consumer and the corporate world. And it ain't pretty. On a rolling 12 month basis, individual tax withheld has dropped by nearly 8% YoY, from $1.42 trillion to $1.31 trillion, while company witholding are down a ...

Limos and Private Jets for Climate Dignitaries Post Date: 2009-12-08 18:22:13 by X-15

As self-described âworld leadersâ gather in Copenhagen to lecture the Earthâs population about carbon-dioxide (plant food) emissions, international news reports have revealed that the COP15 Climate Summit ringleaders are arriving in the Danish capital on hundreds of carbon-spewing private jets and riding around in more than 1,200 gas-guzzling limousines once there. Copenhagenâs international airport reported that just during the peak period of the climate-change summit, it is expecting almost 150 private jets â so many luxury planes, in fact, that they will have to fly to other nearby airports to wait ...
The Fiction Of Climate Science Post Date: 2009-12-08 18:16:20 by X-15

Many of you are too young to remember, but in 1975 our government pushed "the coming ice age." Random House dutifully printed "THE WEATHER CONSPIRACY ⦠coming of the New Ice Age." This may be the only book ever written by 18 authors. All 18 lived just a short sled ride from Washington, D.C. Newsweek fell in line and did a cover issue warning us of global cooling on April 28, 1975. And The New York Times, Aug. 14, 1976, reported "many signs that Earth may be headed for another ice age." OK, you say, that's media. But what did our rational scientists say? In 1974, the National Science Board announced: "During the last 20 to 30 ...

"The inherent problems of the international economic system have not been fully addressed," said China's president Hu Jintao. Indeed not. China is still exporting overcapacity to the rest of us on a grand scale, with deflationary consequences. While some fret about liquidity-driven inflation, Justin Lin, World Bank chief economist, said the greater danger is that record levels of idle plant almost everywhere will feed a downward spiral of job cuts and corporate busts. "I'm more worried about deflation," he said. By holding the yuan to 6.83 to the dollar to boost exports, Beijing is dumping its unemployment abroad â "stealing American ...

American Israel Public Affairs CommitteeâAIPAC. The single most powerful lobby in the world. So powerful that Washington politicians carefully weigh each and every vote they cast based on the approval of this lobby. Yes, a foreign lobby has that much clout, power and control over American leaders and thus, the American people. AIPAC has become so overpowering that they have risen above government investigations and mainstream media scrutiny. So powerful that the following statement was NEVER reported in Americaâs newspapers, magazines, or electronic media: Every time we do something you tell me that America will do this and America will do that. I want ...

THE ONE DOLLAR BILL Post Date: 2009-10-18 12:20:22 by iiatl

THE ONE DOLLAR BILL Take out a one-dollar bill, and look at it. The one-dollar bill you're looking at first came off the presses in 1957 in its present design. This so-called paper money is, in fact, a cotton and linen blend, with minute red and blue silk fibers running through it. It is material and we have all washed it without it falling apart. A special blend of ink is used, the contents of which we will never know. It is overprinted with symbols and then starched, to make it water resistant, and pressed to give it that nice crisp look. If you look on the front of the bill, you will see the United States Treasury Seal. On the top, you will see the scales for a balanced budget. ...
